The 100-year history of the Béke Guesthouse is closely intertwined with that of Hollókő – the first village to be inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Where history lives

in every corner

Béke Guesthouse is not an ordinary place to stay. Its adobe walls, standing for more than than a century, remember a time when life was slower, simpler, and closer to nature.

Where history lives

Hollókő

This village stands out among Hungarian settlements not only for its unique atmosphere and architectural style, but also for being part of the UNESCO World Heritage. This architectural title is not only an honor, but also a responsibility: to preserve the village’s appearance, traditions, and spirit – passed down from generation to generation by the local community over the centuries.

Hollókő is not an open-air museum – it is a living village, where tradition is part of everyday life. The Palóc culture, folk costumes, customs, and local festives are not staged performances, but genuine community experiences. At Easter, the sprinkling of girls with water, the scent of bread and pastries from the wood-fired ovens, the folk music, and the dancing are not just spectacles – they are a way of life. Our house is part of world: offering peace, comfort, and a genuine connection to the past.

Folk costumes, traditional crafts, and Palóc celebrations are still very much alive today.

Tradition

in every detail

During the renovation of the guesthouse, our aim was to keep traditional architecture tangible for today’s guests. We preserved the natural materials and classic shapes, while adding the comforts expected by modern travelers.

Every corner of the house holds something built by our ancestors: the quiet nook of the kitchen, the shadow of the old wooden beams, the wood-burning stove on the terrace – not just for display, but still in use. These details cannot be replaced – they are the true essence of village life.

A modern country home that has kept all the warmth and tranquility of rural architecture.

Where old

meets new

Béke Guesthouse offers both comfort and authentic rural atmosphere.

The house is special not only inside: outside, a spacious grassy garden awaits guests – perfect for relaxing or playing. The covered terrace shows a different face at every time of day – ideal for a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine.

We hope that when you stay with us, you will experience more than just accommodation – you’ll catch a glimpse of a world built and preserved by generations before us.

This house is a piece of living heritage.
